500 years old and not a bit outdated

à la Wastl

The roots of the Wastlwirt date back to 1499. The house received its current name in 1830 from Sebastian Georg Moser, the 16th innkeeper, who simply turned “Sebastian” into “Wastl” – a loving short form in dialect. As early as 1745, Empress Maria Theresia granted the inn the “innkeeper’s right forever”. In 1887, brewery owner Jakob Wieland took over the house and served his self-brewed “Wastlbräu” for the first time. His daughter Maria ran the business for over 50 years – a period that went down in the house’s history as the “reign of women”. Today, Sebastian and Rudi Baier run the house with the same passion – deeply rooted in history, open to the future.

A family-run house

à la Wastl

Since 1966, the Wastlwirt has been in the hands of the Baier family. With Josefine and Rudolf, the transformation from a historic inn to a modern hotel with heart began. Their son Rudi Baier sensitively transformed the house into a 4-star hotel that has retained its charm to this day. In 2017, he handed it over to the next generation: Sebastian Baier continues the legacy with a fresh perspective and great respect. Under his leadership, two-thirds of the rooms and the entire wellness area have already been modernized – always in harmony with the house’s history. Anyone who visits the Wastlwirt today can feel it: the soul of a house that has grown with love – and lives true hospitality in every detail.
